Self-tapes are now the norm for Drama School applications, with the vast majority of institutions asking for taped submissions for the first round of auditions. This makes that your self-tape is a vital part of your potential success, and a poor self-tape can mean you don't progress past this first hurdle.
We offer a self-tape assessment service where you submit your filmed monologues to us and we give detailed feedback on them, with constructive criticism and clear notes and tips on how to improve your work and ensure your tape is ready to be sent off.
As standard, your feedback will be ready within 7 days of submission, although this can be turned around quicker if needed - just let us know what you need and we will look to accommodate.
Please see the list of questions about how this could work. If you have any further questions then please get in touch.
You will submit your monologues to us and they will be watched by our expert tutors.
We will then send you detailed feedback on your work, with constructive criticism and clear notes and tips on how to improve your work and how to ensure that your tape is ready to be sent off.
Our tutors have had a great deal of success working with students applying for drama schools, and have supported countless students gaining places at some of the best drama schools in the world, including RADA, LAMDA, Guildhall, Bristol Old Vic., Central School for Speech and Drama, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, East 15 and Rose Bruford.
They have also had professional industry experience as well as sitting on audition panels at drama schools.
You will receive very detailed written notes about the work that you have submitted. This will include comments about voice, movement, character, emotion, textual understanding and connection, as well as acting technique.
There will be clear tips on how to improve your work, with specific moments highlighted and suggestions made as to how to redirect these sections.
You will also be given clear advice on whether your speech is ready to submit to Drama Schools or not.
In general we work with a 7-day turnaround.
However, we are aware that some students may need to have feedback quicker, especially if they have auditions imminently on the horizon. If this is the case then we will endeavour to turn around the feedback quicker, and we have previously been able to do so in 24-hours. If you need a quicker turnaround then please discuss this with us and we will see what we can do.
You should then work hard on implementing the notes you have received into your monologues.
If you would like to resubmit your self-tape after working on it further then we would happily look through it again and would be able to offer a discount on the price. This would be negotiated with each individual, as some may only need to make small changes whilst others may need a lot more work.
If you have any questions about the feedback, or you need further clarification on the notes you have been given then you can get back to us to ask and we will clarify these with you. There is, of course, no further charge for this.
Our coaches are all well qualified, both as teachers and as experts in their disciplines. They are all fully DBS checked to ensure care and safety.
The nature of the work being recorded and set as assignments means that parents and guardians can have full access to all that is being sent out to students.
If you have any further questions about this course or want more details, then please get in touch and we will get back to you swiftly with a response.
